Description
The volume includes the glossary of terms, places, people, characters referring to the works of the well-known artist Tono Zancanaro (Padua 1906-1985).
Why a Zancanarian glossary? Tono was very fond of inserting captions not only as titles, but also as an explanation of the context on the sheet, particularly in the political-satirical cycles of Gibbo (who was he?), of the Demopretoni (who are they?), of the neo Gibbo (gibbo again? ) and the Palagonese monsters (does the Prince of Palagonia have anything to do with it?), and already understanding, interpreting, reconstructing these writings is not easy. This lettering is always played by Tono on the calembour, on the meanings of the words and their possible interpretations, perhaps slightly altering or replacing a term, so for example the Mussolinian phrase “Every house a guardhouse” becomes gibbonically for Tono “Every house a pig-guard”.
