Description
The exhibition catalogue Preview | Review narrates Michael Conrads’s research from 2009 until today, in a vortex of geometries, materials, techniques and colors. As well as signaling the start of A PICK GALLERY’s programs, this is the first solo exhibition of the German artist in Italy, although it has been possible to see his works in Turin thanks to the group exhibition Wir nennen es arbeit – 56 Berlin artists – at the gallery Opere Scelte and to the Marso Gallery booth at Artissima.
The work of Michael Conrads is ruled by important, although minimal and chaotic, dichotomies, spaces of perspectives
and flat monochromes, obsessive precision and spontaneous improvisations, pictorial traditions and innovations, the rational and the irrational, mathematical resolutions and randomness, that unexpectedly turn into an elegant ensemble. The dynamic nature of his creative processes always manages to achieve
a balance with the conceptual aspect. It would appear that by experimenting with the boundaries between the meaning and the ornamental function of forms, the artist has discovered a sort of rhythm that goes beyond definitions of the organic and the geometric.
