Gianfranco Schialvino, curator of the exhibition, writes in his text: “For an artist, transgression is a rule by necessity, invention replaces copying, the idea bypasses déjà-vu, the spark creates the explosion. Transgression is in Soffiantino and Tabusso, in the same way and with the same intensity, and looking for it, finding it and studying it in such a substantial difference in compositional technique and style makes us know them and then look at them with different surprise and admiration, finally making them close even if parallel , both in search of a language that goes from personal to unique, and then universal.
Tabusso transgresses instinctively. We notice it immediately: the dense and sticky brushstroke that hits the canvas denotes the impetus of the proclamation, the color that seeks contrast defines the bright tone of the concept to be developed, the superimpositions of material serve to reiterate the idea, the The final effect is always spotty, very clear and delimited, in a vision that is the synthesis of elements aggregated in chapters like the speaking windows of a Gothic cathedral. Soffiantino destroys the canons of painting by working it from within: his brushstroke does not stain, but writes. He writes with signs that gradually become more and more minute over time, that find their strength in a common effort, in a storm of grains of sand that overturn a landscape of dunes, of invisible ants that devour a meadow, of ears of corn that under the wind can change the colors of a wheat field a thousand times in an instant.”
