GALEOTTI SIMONAARTISTIC RESEARCH
Simona Galeotti, visual artist has been investigating EXISTENCE in her art projects since 1996. She studies human beings in their daily journeys, their connection with possible parallel dimensions and the invisible energy that drives our lives according to the eternal universal laws.
She believes that desires and passions shape history – traces of space/time – and that all this energy acts as vital sap for the universe. Inspired by André Breton’s thoughts in his book The Magical Art, quantum physics, and Einstein’s concept of light, her aesthetic research, in constant experimentation, focuses on human actions, consciousness, and the limits of anthropocentric thought. In her recent works, “Mystics Project”, “Stories of Ghosts and Ghosts”, “Avatar Project”, “In Lumine” and “CogitoErgoSum Project”, the moment crystallizes in the transition from matter to antimatter, capturing memories through various artistic mediums from minerals to digital, making her projects eclectic over the years. The common denominator is memory, the “Genius Loci of the Heart”.
LIFE
Since a young age, she had the opportunity to be in the presence of prominent spiritual figures such as Gustavo Adolfo Rol and a Master from G.I. Gurdjieff’s group in Turin, Italy. This path of exploration continued at Sai Baba’s Ashram in Puttaparthi, India. Her artistic journey has been enriched by visiting fascinating architectures such as Stonehenge, Chichén Itzá, the Taj Mahal, and Abu Simbel.
The “Portrait of Saint Sara”, painted following its discovery in the church of Saintes Maries de la Mer in Camargue, France, will become a performance that engages the public as well as in most of her figurative works.
Graduating with honors from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin in Decoration, her first instructors, Nicola Maria Martino and Nino Aimone, introduced her to a broader, non-exclusive representational painting style. With Masters Ottavio Mazzonis and Raffaele Ponte Corvo, she deepened her knowledge of portraiture. Additionally, the instructors at the Albertina Academy, Luigi Nervo and Francesco Preverino, along with her friendship with Ezio Gribaudo, were fundamental to her development, as were Giorgio Avigdor and photojournalist Giò Palazzo for her photographic training.
The two-year course of the Piedmont Region, “Color and Urban Furnishings” (1991/92), strengthened her painting skills by learning to make trompe l’oeil and wall decorations with the Prof. Giuseppe Ruggeri.
ARTISTIC PRODUCTION
She conceived in 2006 and edited in 2024 – presented at the Turin International Book Fair 2024 – the collaborative photographic project “Storie di Spettri e di Fantasmi” with the artist Turi Rapisarda. From the late nineties to the present, she has participated in contemporary art events in Italy and abroad at institutions and galleries such as MAB Archeologic Museum in Bene Vagienna, Turin’s PAV Parco d’Arte Vivente, Biennale Democrazia, Guido Costa Project, Allegretti Contemporanea, 107 Foundation, Holy Mistery Santo Volto Congress Center, Artissima at L’uovo di Struzzo Gallery, Cavallerizza Irreale, the Mexican Consulate at Circolo degli Artisti, Sandro Penna Foundation, Castello di Rivara, Cittadellarte Pistoletto Foundation in Biella, San Giovanni Gallery in Bra, Lu Pier Gallery in Brescia, SILOS Art Inside in Venice, Weiller Gallery in Paris, Bosco dei Poeti Art Museum in Dolcè, and the 14th MonFilmFest in Casale Monferrato.
She conceived and realized in collaboration with the historic Circolo degli Artisti and Turi Rapisarda the self-managed exhibition “Daimon1” in the former cemetery of San Pietro in Vincoli in Turin (2006), which has become a series of exhibitions on the invisible and on marginality inspired by the Genius Loci, followed by “Daimon2” a previous mental hospital in Collegno (2007), “Daimon3” ex prison Le Nuove in Turin (2009).
She has participated in a number of exhibitions with the Albertina Academy such as “Ars Captiva”, “Genius Loci”, and “Design of the Urban Imaginary”.
Her “Oasi del Benessere” territorial redevelopment study was selected as the Most Effective Idea for the “Site Specific Art & Architecture Project. C.so Lombardia – scenarios for public space”, Turin, and it was published on the cover of the catalog with the same name.
