Description
The volume explore creative experiments that combine historical photographic processes with new technologies, with the aim of affirming and fostering an appreciation for a heterogeneous photographic approach, where digital, historical, and artisanal methods merge to create a new contemporary photography. The goal is to redefine the boundaries of Photographic Art by presenting works as authentic “photographic objects,” where the added value stems from the artist’s craftsmanship, perseverance, and passion. The exhibition features works by artists who explore the potential of historical photography, experimenting with materials, tools, and technologies to push the boundaries of past processes. This is an exciting creative quest, where fine-tuning the photographic process is just as important as the choice of subject and image content. In these artists’ works, we find the same experimental spirit as the pioneers of photography, who nearly two centuries ago explored the possibilities and opportunities of this new medium, when much was still evolving and almost everything, if not everything, was possible.
