“Punti e Basta” is not a simple catalog but a real artist’s book, which collects twelve years (2000-2012) of works by Maria Bruno, a.k.a. Sisterflash.
His typical “dotted” canvases – geometries, optical textures and chromatic grids with bright, sometimes acidic colors – in their optical and psychedelic journey become solid volumes, real painted sculptures that develop in space.
“The large surface that stretches out under the eyes is nothing but a fragment. It is a portion, the extract of a continuum, a defined and circumscribed part that attracts the eye by fixing it on an arbitrary portion. In reality, the mechanism put in motion by the play of optical illusions (the apparent depth, the lucidity, the reflection) is a stimulus for the sight in order to focus the dense texture of the sign / color spread on the canvases. ” (from the presentation by Francesco Bernardelli).
