This book collects the results of the cycle of workshops Awareness of self through photography, dedicated between 2016 and 2018 by Irene Pittatore and Erika Stefanelli at the Socio-Rehabilitation Center of Alcologia 3D, OrientaDonna and Drop In, services of the Addiction Department of the ASL City of Turin, and the Anni Azzurri Cit Turin residence. The workshops, in the dual photographic and educational component, promote an exploration of the identity of the person and encourage discussion through a focus on beauty as an instrument of emancipation and free expression of oneself and one’s attitudes. The experience of socio-cultural contexts and the world of contemporary art favors opportunities for experimentation and re-discovery of oneself amidst resistance, curiosity and memories.
