The different perspectives, between visual and narrative art, between male and female, between rational pessimism and the continuous search for the human, give life to a stereophonic vision of our world. Faces meet (can meet) only when they look in opposite directions: towards each other. The world and Turin are experiencing a phase of change, a transition between a before that no longer exists and an after that we cannot yet see. In between is the here-and-now, a space-time that cannot be represented except as a distance between two distant moments, just as the arts that make up the works are distant from each other. But every distance, however great, contains within itself the promise of an encounter.
Where all perceptions are innervated, in a game of relationships that take place, an elsewhere creates the moment in which perceptions not only recall each other, but need, signify and express themselves. It is the word of light, of the negative, of oil colour, of pigments and erosions, in the management of balances. The two artists wonder about temporality, about life and its opposite mortal conclusion, working with every type of form: material, alluded or defined, in that multiform irruption of reality into human and universal existence. The language does not only turn towards the image and the figurative gesture, but rather investigates the common matrices of the word, such as the desire for expression or the need to “signify”. The transgression of these artists, if transgression exists, lies in giving voice also to the void, to abandonment, to the dynamics of designation which, in any case, ferments with meaning. Sarah Bowyer creates extraordinary works, such as the writings of Nicola Favaro. From the union arises a broad and intense synergy, which gives the user a new key in the contemporary, not very attentive to the needs of art.
