Description
The book documents the exhibition “Colonial Scenography. FIAT 633NM” by Eleonora Roaro housed in the spaces of the Diffused Museum of Resistance, Deportation, War, Rights and Freedom in Turin, which stages a reflection on the colonial imaginary, which the artist starts from an exercise in micro-history, using parts of his own family archive to bring out the negated, falsified and repressed aspects of the Italian colonial adventure. The audio-video installation, which welcomes the visitor at the end of a historical-critical path on the colonial experience in Italian East Africa, is an exercise in colonization of our imagination and is the result of a double research, intellectual and artistic, which aims to produce an effect of disorientation capable of questioning the repressed elements of our history, problematizing the figure of the male colonizer, white and European and the biographical link that connects him to the artist in relation to a geography that becomes landscape and “scenography” of the colonial adventure.
