“Una parola e tutto cambia. Quando la comunicazione incontra il design” (One Word and Everything Changes: When Communication Meets Design) stems from a desire to reach a broad audience—spanning both industry professionals and the general public—by bringing together topics such as communication, design, art, and graphic design, and exploring their connection to accessibility. The concept of accessibility is analyzed starting from its fundamental meaning, establishing a link with the book’s core themes and reflecting the ongoing research and development within the field of “Design for All.” Communication, design, and art should be as accessible to everyone as product advertising. Typefaces serve as the tools for conveying concepts and messages, and the role of design—and visual communication more broadly—is to make them accessible to all. This volume is not merely the result of research into these relationships but also a graphic expression of the concept of accessible communication itself; it features visuals that represent this idea, and the text has been laid out using highly readable, accessible typefaces.

“Design tra spazio e forma” (Design between space and form) was born from the desire to communicate the definition of “design” in its various declinations to a large audience. The text collects issues relating to sustainability, especially in the field of architecture and interior design, making careful reflection on buildings and architects in the sector, the so-called “green architects”. Product design is analyzed starting from the most famous objects and elements that make up the domestic space and their creators, world-famous designers such as Achille Castiglioni, Gio Ponti and radical designers such as Gaetano Pesce and Ettore Sottsass. The last part of the text focuses on communication and graphics, including editorial graphics, on its birth and its historical evolution, type design, communicative and perceptive methods, combined with an analysis of color and shapes. Four interviews with entrepreneurs, product designers, art directors and graphic designers have been included in the text.
